About the Game
“Vradark’s Revenge” is a fantasy game in the Action RPG genre for the ZX Spectrum Next. The game has several levels, each one inhabited by a different evil Demon. The player plays as a Wizard, the goal of the player in each level is to find the Demon, at the same time destroying all sorts of magical evil things and boosting his abilities, and in the final battle to destroy the main Demon. Repeating this action in each subsequent level, the player will eventually reach the Vradark – the main villain.
By killing evil spirits in the process, the player also earns money which they can spend in the magic shops which are found in each level.
If the player character runs out of health points, he dies and is revived at the beginning of the current level, losing equipment and money. If, however, the player dies in battle against one of the bosses, they have a chance to fight the boss again. But to do so, he must win in a special minigame.

The Legend
Hero needs to save a friend whose soul is imprisoned inside Vradark’s orb. The Necromancer is not defeated and full of strength, was able to swap places with him, occupying Hero’s friend’s body. He decides to return to the place where it all began, to the ancient, dank tombs, to meet Vradark face to face, to defeat him and to carry out the soul swap to free his captive!
Interface and Controls
The top line of the playfield shows the character’s statistics. The mini-map (which can be opened with the M key) is initially empty, but as the player completes a level, new locations open up on the map. To kill monsters the character has two weapons – basic and additional, which can be changed and improved in the magic shops.
Aiming at enemies is done with the mouse, and character movement is done with WSAD or cursor keys. You can also use your own redefined keys.
Hints
- Hold down the fire button to fire automatically.
- Switch on STEREO mode on ZX Spectrum Next and turn up the sound!
Special Requirements
Game can be run with ZX Spectrum Next machine with firmware 22.09 or newer (core 3.01.10, firmware 1.43).

Hey, I bought the digital the other day. Is there any chance I could be sent the artwork for the case to be printed please and instructions/sd card picture?
Unfortunately I don't have them. They left in Ukraine on the hard drive. I'm a refugee now. But if we design new inlay, instructions etc. I will let you know.

Great game Sanchez Crew, love the keyboard+mouse control system and the game play is very addictive. I've noticed a couple of issues on my KS2 Next v2.09 playing the version included with the Steam distribution:
1. When you defeat the Boss, the screen scrolls to show the exit. However the character is off screen and I miss being able to collect the gold. Maybe just show an arrow pointing the way without the scroll.
2. When you die, the game does not return to the title screen. Instead it shows the game HUD on a black background and you have to reset the Next.
3. It would be great to be able to restart the game from the level you last played when restarting the game.
On the Steam Deck, I couldn't use the track pad or move the crosshairs at all. It would be great if you could support the twin sticks, it would play like Robotron then.
Just out of interest… what's changed in version 1.3? The version of the game hosted on zxonline.net – which has a change log – is still version 1.2. Here on itch.io it's version 1.3 but there's no development log page to tell us what's changed.
I purchased VradarkRevenge 1.3, but I I think I have a problem with the game. When I die, it does not take me back to the title screen. It just tries to keep respawning me and I need to reset the ZX Spectrum Next. This is a KS2 version of Next.
Otherwise it looks like a great game.
I downloaded the game from Steam, not sure which version, but the same thing happens to me playing the included ZXNext version (I die, the screen is black but no keyboard response, I have to reset)

This must be the best game i've played on my next so far! Excellent work! I hope it has some cheats for mediocre players like myself :)
Such a bloody brilliant game. I really hope you make more games with this type of control method. Maybe something like robotron or geometry wars?
